Dr. Philippos Papathanos

Phi has a background in genetic engineering and bioinformatics. His interests include synthetic elements for controlling insects and to improve our methods, tools and ultimately understanding of insect biology.

Research Areas

I am interested in engineering insect biology with the aim of building novel biotech tools for genetic control of populations in the wild and in the laboratory. We use synthetic biology and computational genetics to build biotech tools that promise to revolutionize the way human societies can sustainably tackle harmful insects.
