David Rosen

 David Rosen, First Incumbent of the Vigevani Chair of Agriculture, and Professor of

Entomology at the Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Quality Sciences at the Rehovot campus of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, passed away on January 8, 1997, after a prolonged illness.

  • Reproduction and swarming of bee colonies
  • Pheromonal inhibition of the construction of swarming and cells
  • Alarm pheromones of workers and queens.
  • Attraction of honeybees to flowers (Citrus, Cucurbits).
  • Management of bee colonies for pollination and honey production in the subtropics.
  • Monitoring and control of Varroa jacobsoni and Nosema apis in bee colonies.

  • The control of reproductive maturation and pheromone production in insects.
  • The physiology of male-derived accessory gland peptides and proteins on female reproductive behavior of the Medfly (Ceratitis capitata) and of night-flying moths.
  • Biocontrol of armyworms with entomopathogenic fungi.
